The Rain
I will be the first to tell you that I am not a huge fan of the rain. I hate feeling like I can't go outside because it's going to mess up my hair or get my clothes all wet. I am not a huge fan of cloudy gloomy days. They make me want to just stay inside and be lazy. This autumn/winter in California has been a really dry one. We have had really hot weather and haven't really had much rain. About a week or two ago there were some major fires in Southern California. It was really scary how powerful and out of control they got. We were asked by our prophet to pray and fast for rain. It is amazing to me that right when we started to do this the rain came. Not a lot but it still came. This dear sweet women shared at church how when she was growing up she lived on a farm and they had to be really careful about the water. They were only given a certain amount and if they ran out they were out of luck. She shared that she was only able to take one shower a week and her whole family shared the same water. It really made me think about how lucky we are to have as much water we want when ever we want. She told us we really needed to pray for the rain because this drought was serious. Today it rained a lot. To me at least. Lol. I went to the store and had a lot of groceries to carry out of the car but instead of being upset I was grateful. Grateful to a Heavenly Father who hears and answers prayers. Grateful for water to help our drought. Grateful for the rain that came at a time when we really needed it. Today I realized that the rain isn't so bad after all. It can actually be soothing and relaxing. It is necessary and it's something we need to survive.
